Frequently Asked Questions

ABOUT MAKING PURCHASE

1. Do I need to make a new purchase?

To be eligible to participate in this competition, you must have proof of purchase of Barbie products worth RM50 or more from an official retailer from 2021.

If you already have a receipt that fulfils these requirements from this year, then there is no need to make a new purchase. Just show us the one you have!

If you don’t yet have a receipt that fulfils these criteria, then go on and take a look at the Barbie products we’ve got and pick something nice for yourself.

2. Who are official Barbie retailers?

Online, the official Barbie retailers are the Barbie Flagship Store on Lazada and Shopee.

Offline, you can check out retailers such as Toys “R” Us, Hamleys, or selected departmental and convenience stores.

ABOUT YOUR DESIGN

3. Can I draw on a piece of drawing block?

Yes you may, but your piece of drawing block has to fit in the drawing space provided on the entry form.

Do ensure you cut your drawing block to size - we don’t want you to cover the parts you’re supposed to fill in with information.

If the written portion of your entry is obscured, we may not be able to accept it as a complete entry.

ABOUT WINNING

4. How will I know if I have been shortlisted as a finalist?

We will contact you at the email address you provided with your entry.

We know it’s super difficult to wait for exciting news, but you just gotta sit tight. When the judges make their decision, we will let you know either way.

5. How should the 20 finalists prepare for the virtual presentation to the judges?

You’re only going to have 5 minutes to present your design, so make the most of it!

We recommend talking about the concept of your outfit, your inspiration for its design, and to highlight any special features about it that you think will set it apart and make you stand out.

Remember to speak with confidence!

6. How many winners will be selected from the 20 finalists?

Our judges will be selecting six winners, three from each category (Cat A or Cat B).

7. If I am selected as a winner, must I attend the mentorship session?

Yes please! We don’t want you to miss out on this one-in-a-lifetime opportunity to spend time with Kittie!

Whether the mentorship session is in person or alternative arrangements are made because of the COVID-19 situation, it is a requirement. If a winner is not able to make the mentorship session, they will forfeit their win to the next most qualified participant.

8. Will the winners get to walk their designs down the runway at the Fashion Showcase?

Absolutely! Winners will be getting their designs fitted to them, so it's only right that they be the ones to strut their stuff down the runway during the showcase. Don't worry if you're not sure how to do it, our mentors will help guide you along the way!

ABOUT ENTRY SUBMISSION

9. I accidentally submitted an incomplete entry. What should I do?

Oh dear! If this happens to you, please re-fill out the entry form and resubmit your completed entry.

It would be appreciated if you email us at mybarbiefashionfun@gmail.com to inform us of the mistake. We will do our best to help you. Be careful when you’re submitting your entries to make sure they are complete - we’d hate for you to miss out because of this.

10. Is this competition open to kids across Malaysia?

Yes. This competition is open to kids across Malaysia. By submitting an entry, participants agree to bear all costs associated with taking part in the competition including, but not limited to, travelling to various locations for the different steps of the tournament.

Participants who reside outside the Klang Valley should take note that if state borders are not open by the time of the mentorship, we will open their spot to the next most eligible participant in the Klang Valley. We seek our participants' kind understanding in this matter. We know that it is not ideal, but it's our priority to ensure that all participants stay safe during this time.

In the event that we are unable to gather safely in person, we will announce an alternative arrangement for the rest of the competition in which eligible participants from anywhere in Malaysia should be able to participate.
